CASTELLO di BROLIO SANBARNABA 2021 - Vin Bianco Toscana IGT
It is the alter ego of the estate’s grand vin, echoed by both its name and its label design. Like its elder brother, an all-Sangiovese, Sanbarnaba’s mission is to showcase the quality possibilities of Trebbiano, a grape long a feature of the estate and here given a non-traditional vinification.
Distinctive traits: generous, enfolding, inducing meditation.
Soil: Macigno del Chianti, soil commonly called Arenarie, composed by sands and rocks, well drained and furnished with little organic matter.
Harvest: Grapes have been selected and handpicked on September 30, 2021.
Vinification: Destemmed and softly pressed grapes are vinified with the skins in cocciopesto amphorae, at a controlled temperature of 14°C (57.2°F), for up to three months.
Ageing: 12 months: 40% in amphorae, 30% in stainless steel tanks and the remaining 30% in two and three-year old barriques.
Bottling: May 16, 2023.
Tasting notes
Golden yellow colour. Complex nose with hints of citrus, liquorice, and elderflower. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with balanced acidity. Long and persistent finish.
