Casalferro Toscana Igt
Distinctive traits: wine of great personality, ample, balsamic.
Soil: Casalferro vineyard’s brown earth type of soil, of clay loam texture and poor in organic matter, determines the exclusive personality of this great Chianti Merlot.
Harvest: The Merlot grapes were hand-picked starting from September 11 from Casalferro vineyard, on September 13 from Sodacci vineyard and, finally, on September 18 from Pecchierino vineyard.
Ageing: 21 months in tonneaux and barriques of which 30% are new oak and the remaining 70% are of second and third passage.
Bottling: 17 March 2021
Intense ruby red color. Rich and powerful nose, with hints of dark fruits: blackberry, currant, plum, and spices. Voluminous and warm, with delicate and enveloping tannins. The nose returns in the finish.
